Cycle & Style with Timberland

This week I was invited to the Timberland ‘Cycle and Style bike ride Event’, to celebrate the merging style and ethical credentials of the Timberland brand. Timberland is not only a great outdoor brand; it’s also committed in reducing its carbon footprint and ensuring that their employees give 40 hours a year to the community.

I was picked up from Freak Deluxe HQ and whisked to Regent’s Park in an eco-friendly Green Tomatoes car. Using the latest in hybrid drive technology, Green Tomatoes, fleet of Toyota Prius cars reinforce the ethical message from the Timberland Cycle and Style event.

Upon arrival to Regent’s Park, where the bike ride began, we were greeted with a bike from the London Tour Bicycle Company, treats from Dr.Hauschka skin care, Badger lip balms, Bounce nutritional balls and a Rainwave poncho. Timberland goodies included smart wool cycling socks, and a Timberland hat. We were also given Timberland Deck shoes to ride in.

The bike ride ran along the Regent’s Canal, taking in iconic London spots such as Camden Lock and Islington’s Upper Street.

The journey finished at the uniquely sustainable Waterhouse Restaurant in Dalston. Much like Timberland, the Waterhouse restaurant is committed to efficient waste management and follows a strict policy of reducing waste and recycling with a minimal carbon footprint.

Drinks and canapés were waiting for us when we arrived at the Waterhouse, along with display pieces from Timberland’s womenswear collections.

The Under Canvas range introduces Bionic Canvas and Ion-Mask technology by P2i this creates a more durable, water resistant canvas shoe and sandal. Timberland demonstrated just how water resistant the shoes were during the lunch.

Sustainability is a reoccurring theme throughout Timberland’s collections; this was highlighted over lunch, we were treated to a chic and ethical spread consisting of seasonal, local produce and organic beverages.

After lunch, I got back into the new eco-friendly Green Tomatoes car and headed back to FDHQ with my basket of goodies.
