Off the Ricta Scale!

Coventry based Hip Hop artist Ricta has just released his début single ROCK CAPS (an ode to graffiti highlighting the positive aspects of the culture which has been subject to much controversy over the years) the single is available now on iTunes, HMV, Amazon, Play.com. The track will also be featuring on the BBC 2 TV Show No Hat’s, No Trainers.

Originally starting out as a DJ at 12 years old, Ricta’s love for Hip Hop culture would take him from tapes to the crates and eventually, to the microphone.

Making his first step in music in 2007, Ricta released the ‘General No One’ mixtape which sold worldwide from the UK to the home of Hip Hop in Brooklyn,NY. The lead single ‘Give It Up’ enjoyed airplay on various on-line and FM radio stations including BBC & Conspiracy Worldwide. The release of this mixtape would secure Ricta much needed exposure in the UK, in turn opening the door to live shows and a host of new opportunities.

Following up in 2008 with ‘The Rictape’ mixtape, Ricta dropped a release which would again take him to the next stage of his career, not only firmly cementing him as rapper to be reckoned with but also showcasing his love for Hip Hop culture combining sterling beats with relentless lyricism and skill, the release was later made available online and has since received tens of thousands of downloads.

Ricta has performed alongside legendary acts within the scene such as Kano, Akala, KRS-ONE, Ugly Duckling & Blackalicious to name a few, and continues to regularly rock shows on a national level but is now looking to take his music international with an already growing buzz in eastern Europe and the US.

On April 26th 2010 Ricta released his first single taken from the Expocate EP entitled ROCK CAPS an ode to Graffiti and Hip Hop culture worldwide which is now available on iTunes, HMV Digital, Amazon, Play.com and all major digital music outlets, also backed by an original music video and soon to feature on the BBC 2 TV show No Hat’s, No Trainers. The waves are hitting full force !

The EP is coming this spring and is entitled ‘Expocate’ an abbreviation of… (Expose Then Re-Educate) the EP will feature self-produced tracks as well as collaborations with some heavy hitters including damage of the commercially successful US Hip Hop group Yaggfu Front whose debut album sold over 200,000 copies, the release will be available on CD and all major digital outlets on the web from July 1st.
