Spring’s hopefully almost here, and with it a slew of new accessories trends from the S/S runway shows are working their way onto the high street right now. EASTER PASTELS
When it comes to colour palettes, this spring it’s either monochrome or pastel. The pastel shade trend is always popular for spring, and this year things are no different. The Glamorous Aztec Bodycon Dress from Bank Fashion illustrates the Easter palette of lilacs, peaches and pinks has been livened up with ice blue.
BASEBALL CAP
Snapback baseball caps might not sound like the kind of thing you’s expect to see on the catwalks at Prada et al, but this season designers have got all hot under the collar about this street style staple. Snapback caps have been given a high fashion makeover, turning them into statement pieces designed to add an urban athletic edge to slicker outfits. A great way to get some shade this spring, this season’s caps are really feminine when teamed with the right outfit. Look out for sleek, minimal black caps in luxe materials like leather, or soften the look with feminine prints and shades.
CUTAWAY BOOTS
As the weather starts to heat up, it’s time to think about ditching those winter boots and baring some skin. While it might not be sandal weather yet, one of the biggest footwear trends for the season is certainly sandal-inspired. The cutaway gladiator boot is a bold knee-high trend that was spotted all over the runways, from Alexander Wang to Altuzarra. An eyecatching alternative to the high-heeled knee-high boot, you can pick and choose between traditional gladiator styles, and the more Wang-like modernist approach.
TRANSPARENCY
Transparent accessories were everywhere, along with transparent detailing. From box clutches that looked like chunks of ice over at Burberry and Gucci, to see through accents on killer heels at Givenchy and Michael Kors, see through plastics are going to be everywhere this season. There’s no doubting that this is firmly 60s inspired, but the pieces that transparent materials are being teamed with aren’t necessarily 60s-looking. It’s a minimalist, futuristic look that’ll help you show off that new season tan.
THE BOX CLUTCH
Box clutches made a catwalk re-emergence last year, but this spring the trend gets into full swing. This year box clutches have shrunk into teeny weeny dainty darling pieces, looking more like delicate jewel-encrusted ornaments than handbags. They’re a great way to add an instant splash of colour or old Hollywood glamour, and you’ll find so many unique shapes and designs out there that you can really use them to express your own personal style too.
