FASHION: DESIGNER CHRISTMAS JUMPERS

DESIGNER CHRISTMAS JUMPERS

This year the Christmas Jumper has gone luxe with the help of a few British designers. Friday 13th December is Christmas Jumper Day, wear a chrimbo jumper and donate ÂŁ1 or more to help save childrens lives with Save the Children.

With the support of the British Fashion Council, some of the world’s leading British designers including Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Burberry, Anya Hindmarch, David Koma, Paul Smith, Giles Deacon, House of Holland, Jonathan Saunders, Matthew Williamson, Peter Pilotto, Mary Katrantzou and Sibling have each customised a unique one off  jumper for Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day.

The 14 Christmas jumpers have been designed and hand-knitted by fashion brand Wool and the Gang and their British Gang of knitters here in the UK before being customised by each designer.  The jumpers will go on display exclusively at The Village, Westfield London in a stunning installation designed by the visual artist and curator Stuart Semple.

You can own these couture wooly creations by entering the text auction, but take note because this auction has a twist – it’s the lowest unique bid that wins the prize, not the highest!

Go to Christmas Jumpers Day for all the details.

FASHION: THE RIGHT SHOE – ULLA ENGESTROM

ULLA ENGESTROM_at shoescribe.com

Cinderella and a wayward glass slipper gave us a little taste of it early on, Dorothy seconded with a ruby version while their modern-day counterpart, Carrie Bradshaw, and her amplified affinity for anything with a heel sealed the deal – a pair of shoes, especially the right ones, can truly change a woman’s life.

Marilyn Monroe immortalized the thought in her now famous quote, “Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world.”

High end online shoe store Shoescribe.com took these as inspiration and traveled the world from London and Paris, NYC to Toronto to meet up with six female icons for their Holiday campaign; and asked them “What’s the right shoe for you?”. Each completely different with just a few things in common – success, style and a love for shoes. In each interview they give us a little career advice, their future goals, fondest shoe memories and style tips; in addition to their selections of the 4 styles they’ll be wearing to conquer their world!

Founder of ThingLink, Ulla Engestrom likes a shoe that doesn’t slow her down, one that allows her go fast, and keeps her grounded. She also tells us her interpretation of success, about her entrepreneurial journey, and thoughts on being a female entrepreneur.
