BLEACH BAR is the latest addition to best friends Alex Brownsell and Sam Teasdale’s Dalston empire. A few doors down from the ‘coolest salon in town’, comes the coolest bar in town. For 10 weeks only the girls will host East London’s finest with colourful cocktails, and signature snacks by TART including future classics The Slushino, Ratmilk, and Wonky Direction. In a unique twist for guests, a variety of familiar faces from pop culture’s vanguard will be testing out their drink serving skills on selected nights.
The Bar is open until the 11th October, Thursday through to Saturday from 6pm-2am.
“Bleach has always been a fun place to hang out and occasionally accidently host after hour parties from and we are very excited to now have a bar space to socialise from legitimately. We will be bringing our brand aesthetic to the bar and making it as exciting as our salon and product range. We have a unique approach to drinking and have been collaborating with our friends on designing the space, cocktail menu an planning an exciting 10 week party schedule.”comments Alex Brownsell.
The interiors have been imagined by superstar set designer David White, who has worked on numerous projects for renowned design houses such as Vivienne Westwood, Kenzo, Louis Vuitton and Acne.
David White explains “Having the chance to collaborate with a brand that has such a strong existing language has been an exciting and interesting process. It’s been a challenge finding a way to apply their vision/style to a space without making it appear overly branded. We looked at current trends in bar design which mimic the Brooklyn aesthetic of stripping back the building to its bare bones and original features, and took that idea to a futuristic era.”
The bar concept is East meets, East London – Whites concept is an old Chinese restaurant, brought to life with Asian imagery, juxtaposing oriental exoticism with an East London photography backdrop. The result is a Blade Runner-esque, psychedelic acid trip with a nod to Enter the Void’s Asian clubbing and city visuals.
Lucy Carr-Elison and Jemima Jones from TART said “We are super excited about creating cocktails for the pop up bar. We want to create them using seasonal ingredients with new and exciting flavours, like pineapple chilli and mint, or watermelon and basil. All our cocktails will be natural, no food colouring or additives – The bright colours will come from a fresh fruit puree. Throughout the summer we are looking to do alcoholic lolly pops, frozen margaritas and slushies, by Autumn perhaps there will be something more warming on the menu…
