Sneakers

Being comfy is a big trend at the moment and it doesn’t look like it is going to go away any time soon. Plus, the 1990s are making a comeback and sneakers were all the rage back then. We are not talking about having the odd pair of sneakers lying about when you are having an off day. They should be considered an accessory and your outfit might end up being worked around whatever style of shoe you are working with. And there are so many styles to choose from, you will be spoilt for choice.

Baggy jeans

After living in comfy clothes all through the pandemic, no one is in a rush to get back into their skinny jeans any time soon. The only way to wear your jeans at the moment is with a loose waistband and baggy legs. The jean style could be anything from baggy skater jeans to stealing your man’s jeans. Whatever you decide on, make sure they are loose and you are free to move in them. With this level of comfort, we cannot see skinny jeans coming back into fashion anytime soon.

Smart leisurewear

Show of hands, who worked through the pandemic at home in their pyjamas? Yep, plenty of people did. It’s not surprising that smart leisure wear is a thing right now. If you are not sure what this is, think soft knitted pyjamas that look so good, you could wear them out to the shop and no one would bat an eyelid at you. They are a hybrid between the old ways and the new ways. They are the uniform of the working crowd as they have a sophisticated look with a comfortable feel.

Waterproof boots

The winter months are making sure that the weather is getting wetter in most places, so if you do have to leave the house, you need to make sure that you are wearing the right clothes. Nobody is interested in getting their feet wet anymore so waterproof boots are in. Even just ankle-grazing rubber boots are having a moment as a great alternative to carrying a huge set of wellington boots around. Booties that can take on the water have no place outside the house but can still be worn inside for some extra comfort.

Chunky knits

This one should not come as a surprise as chunky knits seem to come back into fashion every year. However, there is a bit of a difference this year because the focus is on homemade. During the pandemic, a lot of people taught themselves how to knit and crochet. Well, now they can make their own clothes and chunky knits is one of their favourite pastimes. If you can knit or crochet, start creating those knitted wonders now before the weather gets really cold. You could even knit yourself a chunky blanket.

Oversized coats

This is another one of the people who have to leave the house from time to time. Oversized coats are the item of choice to help keep the cold out. There is no one style that you should go for because it only matters if it is oversized. Think of large puffer jackets or long trench coats. The idea is to wrap you from head to toe in something comfy when you go outside. These coats have more of a power vibe going on with them as they look great with some shoulder pads and thick belts.

Wide brim hats

We are all over the wide brim hat trend that started in the summer and hasn’t disappeared yet. It has just adapted for the colder weather. Think of woollen fedoras and baker boy hats with peaks. If it can keep your head warm and the sun out of your eyes, it should be joining your wardrobe. Don’t be afraid to experiment with some different styles as there are plenty out there to choose from.

Lacy underwear

Sexy underwear is making a comeback and we are loving it! Designers are finally getting the balance between function and design in the right direction. Now we can wear something sexy that doesn’t compromise on comfort. Don’t get us wrong, there is still some work to be done by some brands but a lot of them are heading in the right direction. Even if it isn’t lacy, it is still getting a sleeker cut that looks good but is also comfortable.

Faux fur

We can’t say that there are many people out there who would admit to wearing real fur these days. Faux fur is something else entirely. The terrible thing about faux fur is that it looks so good these days, people think it is real! Always check the labels when you are buying stuff as you never know. However, as a general rule, faux fur is a fraction of the price of real fur. The best way to wear your faux fur is as an oversized coat. Not only will you look stylish, but you will also be really warm under all of that fuzz.

Tracksuits

We know we mentioned leisure suits earlier but tracksuits are something else entirely. The 1990s was a time when the tracksuit ruled supreme and perfection was reached with the velour Juicy Couture tracksuit. Not only was this glamorous to wear all year round, but it was also incredibly comfortable too. Its time has come again and it is making a huge comeback. The only question remains, will you go with hot pink or black?

Backpacks

Who else is fed up with their handbag weighing them down on one side? Plenty of people are, that’s who. Now, everyone is making the switch to fancy backpacks. Not only are they easier to carry around all day, but they can also come in a variety of styles and sizes. This does not mean that you need to carry a school or sports backpack, you can use any bag, including more grown-up faux leather handbags.

Tights

The colder weather means that we all need a bit of extra warmth around us. Tights have been a pain for many people for many years. But now, there are plenty of designs that are comfortable and will last longer than a day. Of course, woollen tights are definitely a good choice for the winter, especially if you live somewhere that is really cold. There are a lot of new tight companies out there that have cracked the tight code and are making names for themselves with their new designs.

Hoodies

The final item on our list is the humble hoodie. Hoodies are comfortable but have not really been considered a must-have fashion accessory. Times are changing where the hoodie is in. The best way to wear them is at least two sizes too big and teamed up with some baggy jeans for extra comfort. The amazing thing about hoodies at the moment is that nearly every brand is creating their own line of hoodies so you don’t have to get one from a company that you hate, there are plenty to choose from!
