The opening look of Alexander Wang’s AW13 show reminded me of a greyscale version of Grover from Sesame St, you know the blue guy with the big mouth and the accent; the furry mittened arms with the full on knitted sweater/hoody/balaclava took me way back to my pre-school days (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 – if you don’t know about that, I can’t help you!). On first glance, I thought “why did he make me prefer his Spring/Summer collection???” and I still kinda do. However, going back for a second, third, and fourth look I’m really feeling it.

Heels were covered with fame-esque leg warmers, gloves looked like fur boxing gloves, coats/jackets were oversized and cocoon shaped. There are so many stand out pieces in this collection, the all black wool/leather short sleeved coat is a keeper; the oversize sweaters with waffle detail; and the black burnout tee. I really wouldn’t mind a pair of those arm-length mittens too.
