MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA RESORT 2013

Maison Martin Margiela Resort 2013 was full of what MMM does best, menswear-influenced tailoring. The minimal collection was full of monochrome tones with hint of powdery hues; silhouettes were simple layered with tailored pieces, whilst others were loose and light. This is definitely a collection full of investment pieces, faves are the off white double-breasted sleeveless jacket, the navy suit with cigarette pants, and the strapless pleated black maxi dress. I also want to get into the bags and couple of the shoes! That fold over clutch and oversize box clutch need to be mine, I’ve already cleared space for them in the bag closet! That is all.

CHRISTOPHER KANE RESORT 2013

Christopher Kane Resort 2013 is giving me “Garden Party Chic” full of pastels, oversize paint stroke and rose prints, and lace with hints of leather; a multitude of skirts and dresses in every length possible, mid-thigh, above the knee, below the knee, midi, and maxi! Knife pleats were a large feature in dresses, shirts, and skirts always teamed with a flat asymmetric jacket, asymmetric tailored vest, and bodice. The heels looked great but the flats not so much, it looked as though they were ready to climb Dunn’s River Falls!

Stand out pieces were the leather dress and jacket for sure, the entire look with the printed lace J Brand jeans (sans shoes of course), along with the oversize shirt with pleat detail and the brush stroke pleated maxi.

What were your faves?

GIVENCHY BY RICCARDO TISCI RESORT 2013

Riccardo Tisci’s silhouette for Givenchy’s Resort 2013 is absolutely delightful! It’s such an effortless yet polished look that works for both day and night. The precise cuts and sophisticated tailoring revisit Givenchy’s signature look, such as the boxy jacket, the men’s shirt and sarouel pants. Contour is graphically renewed with a tail coat idea reinterpreted through opened sleeves or paneled extensions of tops, T-shaped sleeves and rounded balloon volumes. Tisci blends the best of Givenchy’s architectural lines and clean cuts with a gypsy influence expressed through prints and volumes. The feeling is about lightness, about mixing and matching what is seemingly at odds or classic with a sense of ease.

Monochrome whites, blacks and reds are teamed with three paisley prints. The same color palette follows through the rich variety of accessories. From boxy shapes to small clutches, including the HDG House de Givenchy style, bags incorporate soft calf, quilted and vegetal leathers. Other versions present paisley-printed textured PVC, caged crystal embroideries or braided nappa. The sandals, boots and high heeled loafers leave me salivating in braided leather, the monochrome pairs are outstanding!
