Grace Jones at Lovebox

Not only did Ms. Jones steal the show, she stole the whole Lovebox weekend! At 62 she has a body to die for and she knows what to do with it. She came out to “Nightclubbing” a hit from 1981 in a black Philip Treacy mask.

Every song required a different hat and sometimes jacket…

She kept this Hula Hoop going for the entire length of Slave to the Rhythm and introduction to the band, she even walked off stage with it still in motion! AMAZING

She had to leave us, she had ran over time and she didn’t want to “wake the neighbours!” She wanted to do 2 more, the feeling was mutual, I know she had another 20 Philip Treacy creations to choose from (apparently the man himself was there) alas, we all had to vacate the premises. If I ever get the chance to see her again, I’m in there like swimwear! Peace out.

Lovebox – Day 1

I was lucky enough to be invited to Lovebox Festival in Victoria Park this weekend. The event is organised by Groove Armada, usually it’s two days but this year was it’s first 3 day festival! If you read my first Lovebox article then you’ll know Friday was Pop-Tastic day. I went with Charlotte from Glam Media/Style Cartel and we took a bunch of style snaps of my Deluxe Freaks for you to feast on…

So Friday was fun, The Noisettes were great. Their outfits were made by Bert’s (Yorkshire Pearl) assistant! Bib props there. I was looking forward to seeing the cheeky chappy Dizzee, he didn’t disappoint but I’ve seen his set so many times on TV that I was really blown away. Sunday was by far the best day, stay tuned for pics.

GLAM UK

Miss Selfridge AW 2010/11

A couple of weeks ago Miss Selfridge showed their AW 2010/11 collection to a selection of bloggers. It’s the best collection I’ve ever seen from Miss S, it’s really come into it’s own.

The Collection is made up of 4 main parts Gothic Glam, Hippy Luxe, Simplicity, and Winter Pastels.

“Gothic Glam evokes the dark and edgy side of the fashion mood whilst still maintaining romance. Sculptured silhouettes in velvet, chiffon and lace with sheer detailing and sequins enhance the femininity of the collection”

“Hippie Luxe – Stepping through the looking glass, this collection marries the fashion sensibilities of London’s bright young things in the 1970s. Layering with paisley print smock dresses, loophole knitwear, gilets and faux fur coats creates that new boho feel with an updated edge in darker hues for AW10.”

“Simplicity – Encapsulating the monochrome trend, with touches of white, cream, and dusky pink, Simplicity, works in texture, sparkle and girlishness into the surfaces. From the look of the trousers to the proportions of the princess coat in camel trimmed with black brocade are perfect wardrobe staples.”

“Winter pastels combine delicate beading with faux fur statements. Nude shifts are edged with silver beading and teamed with dramatic capes and coats. For evening, draping is key as empire line fishtail maxi dresses are embellished while the butterfly sequin baby doll dresses add to the romantic look.”

Butters the fashion dlogger couldn’t resist being “papped”, she said ‘forget the shoes, what about me?!’ So here she is…
