The ever colourful and sparkly Ashish didn’t fail us this season. He took the Cali girl, put her in the ranch and threw sequins at her with a twist of Navajo Indian. Animal prints (cow and leopard), gingham and fringing a plenty topped of with trucker hats and feathers.
After the successful launch of their younger on trend line, Boutique by Jaeger, Jaeger London’s SS11 show was bang on point for my Spring/Summer. Stuart Stockdale gave us a little bit of everything, utility chic/tailoring, colour/monochrome, heels/flats, leather/suede, loose knits/silk. There’s something for everyone.
There was no way I was going to be one of the unlucky people left out in the cold during the PPQ SS11 show and/or after party! James from Style Noir gave me the heads up that there may be a chance I wouldn’t get in…cut to me at the front of the “standing” queue waiting with my red ticket to get in. Long story short, I got in, and got a seat.
The collection was called “Hassan” which took influences from North Africa including the fez. The bright silks and familiar looking vintage inspired print worked well together.
Personally I much preferred the bold silks/prints and black to the French Riviera/Wee Willy Winky stripes. However I do love Percy’s blue silk fez.
The PPQ after party was held at the lush Westminister Plaza Hotel, Romy from Mercury Prize Winning band The XX, DJ’d. She had the crowd going wild, dance-off anyone?
The party was sponsored by Ciroq vodka and Tanqueray Ten gin, so the drinks were flowing pretty nicely.
Mulberry’s LFW presentation was held in Claridges Hotel. This season they took inspiration from the film “Grey Gardens” as well as the timeless children’s novel “The Secret Garden” by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
The Mulberry girl was on fire this season, looked like 30 Karen Elson’s walking down the catwalk with a flash of red hair.
Models also walked down the catwalk with Gladys and Pixie (Brix Smith-Start’s pugs) dressed in little doggy trenches.
Animal prints/texture, florals, and bold colour were key for Mulberry this season.
As ever the Mulberry accessories were on point, with new additions Tilly and Cory, and old faithfuls Bayswater and Alexa. The footwear was condensed this season, the Bootie, Wedge, and Sandal were the three styles used to make up the D-Ring Wrap Collection. The giant studs, over-sized buckle hardware and luxe fabrics make the collection a must have for SS11.
