Vogue Fashion’s Night Out – Furla

Isolabella, the Italian Sambuca, teams up with luxury accessory designer Furla for an indulgent in-store evening of cocktails and shopping as part of ‘Vogue Fashion’s Night Out’ – the annual global retail therapy initiative, now in its second year.

To celebrate, Isolabella will unveil a new cocktail ‘Oz Bella’ inspired by the launch of Furla’s new ‘Wizard of Oz’ collection. The event is taking place at Furla central London on 221 Regent Street, W1B 4NJ between 7pm and 10pm. The store will be open to all.

‘Vogue Fashion’s Night Out’ was launched in 2009 as an international, multi-sensory, shopping experience with each participating store stamping their own identity on their ‘events’. Last year, this celebration of fashion shopping inspired thousands of style conscious consumers to visit stores around the world – making it the largest shopping event in history. This year’s initiative is set to be even bigger, with an additional three new cities taking place – bringing the total number of participants up to 16.

Mark Collins, Senior Brand Manager for Isolabella said: “For us Furla is an obvious partner, as not only are they an Italian icon, they are synonymous with high quality understated elegance. Isolabella is a stylish high quality extra fine Sambuca made in Milan, Italy thus the result is an evening for shoppers to celebrate the very essence of Italian creativity.”

Furla is a leading Italian brand specialising in luxury handbags and accessories for men and women. They have outlets around the world including five shops in London. In honour of VFNO on Wednesday 8th September, Furla will be closing their Regent Street store at the later time of 10pm.

In addition to the exclusive ‘Oz Bella’ shoppers will also be able to savour an ‘Orange Bella’ or ‘Candied Dream’. In these two cocktails the succulent taste of Mediterranean oranges are combined perfectly with the delicious flavour of anise as it is enjoyed through a distinctive liquorice straw – an irresistible taste experience which will be available to all on the night.

Levi’s Curve ID

Levi’s have launched a new fit for their women’s jeans, Levi’s Curve ID. It’s all about shape, not size!

Levi’s invited me to the Levi’s flagship store on Regent St to find out exactly what the new fit was all about and to be fitted for my own pair!

Levi’s tested the shape of 60,000 women for research for this new fitting system, they came up with three different fits: Slight Curve, Demi Curve and Bold Curve.

The Slight Curve (Lykke Li) is pretty much straight up and down with a little hip action.

The Demi Curve (Pixie from Violet) is totally in proportion, so right waist to hip ratio.

The Bold Curve (Miss Nine) is small waist, large hip/posterior.

The measuring is pretty quick and simple, no scanners or body suits. Just a ribbon tied round the waist with two tape measures attached vertically, then a measurement taken around the hip, and another around the bum.

Et voila, I am a Slight Curve.

Once you get your fit, you pick up your size and it should fit like a glove, I know mine did; no muffin top, no gaping, no pinching. They also come in various washes and cuts.

We were given our goody bags with our jeans and an invite to the Levi’s Curve ID party at Studio Valbonne.

The guestlist was fun; Pixie Geldof was to perform with her band so her usual posse was there, Alexa Chung, Henry Holland, Jade Parfitt, and her daddy – Sir Bob Geldof.

Lykke Li (Slight Curve) was up first, she came with her tambourine and drummer, and of course the voice.

Pixie (Demi Curve) pleased the masses and I think she surprised most of them too. The songs were great and after each one the cheers got bigger, she was actually really timid between songs. Maybe she thought she wouldn’t get a good reception, but she delivered so the crowd gave back as good as they got.

Miss Nine (Bold Curve) was the DJ for the last leg of the night, she brought the party tracks with her one of them being “I’m in Miami trick!”

Personally I wish Levi’s would go an inch or two longer on the leg, then the fit would really be perfect (for me)!

Iconic Fashion Brand BIBA Relaunches

This month BIBA relaunches with a new collection of womenswear and accessories that is bang up to date, yet still stays true to the iconic BIBA brand.

The collection references the flattering cuts and styles of the original BIBA collections that brought accessible fashion with attitude to women of all ages. BIBA 2010 has evolved into a modern contemporary collection of dresses, tops, denim and evening wear with a renewed sense of sophistication.

As well as getting to preview the collection we were spoiled with champagne, fruit flavoured cider, and canapés.

AND, Nails Inc were on standby for those who wanted their nails polished and perfected. Shirley, Leanne, and Imani were a dream, they shaped, buffed, and polished our nails to perfection.

What to wear? What to wear?

I decided to go for “Stanhope Gardens”
Char Style Cartel went for “Basil Street”

Amy from Wolf Whistle went for the classic “Victoria”
Photographer for the night, Magdi of HQ, decided to get a shape up and buff

The collection will be exclusive to House of Fraser and available in 35 stores nationwide and online. There will also be 10 BIBA boutiques launching on the 9th Sept 2010 in the following locations: Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Dublin (Dundrum Shopping Centre), Glasgow, Edinburgh (Jenners), Manchester, Sheffield (Meadowhall shopping Centre), London Oxford St, London Westfield.

Lanvin <3 H&M

H&M is proud to announce that its next designer collaboration will be with Lanvin, one of the most influential brands of the 21st century. Designed by Lanvin’s artistic director Alber Elbaz, and menswear designer Lucas Ossendrijver, the collection will go on sale on November 23 in around 200 H&M stores worldwide.
The collection of both womenswear and menswear will be revealed to the world on November 2, just three weeks before the clothes hit the store, making the launch of Lanvin for H&M among the most anticipated fashion events of the year.

Alber Elbaz, artistic director of Lanvin.
“We are thrilled about Lanvin’s collection for H&M, it is such an exciting moment. Lanvin will bring to H&M a luxurious French tradition that is also modern and playful. It is very much a Lanvin collection, using their cut and tailoring, with lots of focus on form and details for both women and men. The launch in November is going to be full of wonderful surprises.” Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M.
Since joining Lanvin as artistic director in 2001, Alber Elbaz has transformed the Paris-based label, founded in 1889 by Jeanne Lanvin, into a fashion powerhouse bursting with ideas and creativity. Pioneering some of the biggest trends of the past decade – ribbon, bows, pearls, raw edges, sumptuous colour and metallic embellishment among many others.
Lanvin is the latest brand to collaborate with H&M, with previous collections designed by the likes of Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Comme des Garçons, Victor & Rolf and Sonia Rykiel. In a new twist, the Lanvin for H&M collection will be revealed to the world through a special film which will be launched on November 2. The film will be available for all to see online at www.hm.com. Following the film’s debut, it will be just three weeks before customers have the chance to get their hands on a covetable piece of Lanvin for H&M.
I love the idea of these collaborations but in reality I can’t stand it. I probably won’t get a great piece because I don’t do standing outside the store for hours waiting for the first peek and the dash and grab situation that follows (I wouldn’t subject my assistant to it either). If H&M want to give us a lil’ preview, that would please me greatly! Otherwise I’ll just admire it from afar.
