SS11 SHOE TREND REPORT VIA SHOE FANATIC

Summer has arrived early and with scorching temperatures we have been able to put away our boots and opt for something a little more revealing. Spring Summer collections have enthused us with a selection of funky yet chic styles for 2011 so Shoe Fanatic brings you an update on this seasons shoe trends.

Brights

Inject colour into your wardrobe by overtly contrasting bolds and brights.  Opt for an electric colour palette such as pink and orange and mix with blues and greens. Bright screams confidence so strut in style and make a statement.

Wooden

The 70’s inspired wooden heels have taken over the catwalk this season and they look absolutely fantastic with a pair of palazzo pants so I cannot wait to invest. There are some beautiful wooden heels, however I have my heart set on this stunning collectors piece by Charlotte Olympia. These shoes demand attention so be sure to dress from the shoes up.

Platforms

Platforms are back with a vengeance and this season we have an even higher platform to choose from. Team with a tailored dress and stand tall in a shoe that demonstrates attitude, poise and glamour.  Louboutin have done us proud with ‘Daffodil’, the same style recently worn by Victoria Beckham at the Royal Wedding and Beyonce (below).

Wedges

Thankfully, we also have a shoe, which may be cherished by all of you fashionistas who cannot quite manage a 6.5 inch heel and 2.5 inch platform! The wedge is much more manageable and they look hot with a maxi or some super sexy shorts. Lanvin caught my eye with these snake print canvas wedges.

So what’s your favourite style for SS11, would you opt for the mega platforms or the wedge?

MULBERRY SS11 – THE CAMPAIGN

Mulberry’s first seasonal film took six of their Spring Summer 2011 campaign images, shot by renowned photographer Tim Walker, and used visual effects; animation, rotoscoping and repainting, to make the pictures come alive.

The film was directed by Park Village director Luke Losey, and worked on collaboratively by House and Holme, Park Village and visual effects company Framestore.

Framestore (who have previously worked on high-end commercials as well as projects for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and Avatar) created the digital, arty animation by cutting out hundreds of images and allowing them to move independently within a defined 3D space. Every available element from each image was isolated and ‘freed’ from the backdrop, allowing them to move in dreamlike, illusory layers within the images.

The result is a montage of moving, magical moments from the original campaign images: romantic, ethereal and in keeping with the aesthetics and theme of Mulberry’s Spring Summer 2011 season.
