This week’s Model Crush is Maria Borges; the Angolan born 5’11” model who names Riccardo Tisci, James Scully, and Katie Grand as her honorary Godparents. Maria was discovered when she placed second in the Elite Model Look Angola 2010 and was promptly signed to Supreme Management in New York. A moth later she was right in the thick of Fashion Week, booking 17 shows in her first season!
The model, famously know for her legs, has walked for Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford, Dior, and exclusively for Riccardo Tisci at Givenchy for 2 seasons!
Borges has posed semi nude for none other that Carine Roitfeld in CR Fashion Book (styled by Shiona Turini), featured on the cover of Vogue magazine, and has claimed her wings as a Victoria’s Secret angel.
The model is in no doubt about to claim that “super” status, but for now she is taking her career step by step.

This is soooo true, there have been so many things over the years that have happened, wishes come true, people coming into my life – after I’ve vocalised what I really want.
It’s one thing to think about it or wish for it, but once you vocalise it and really mean it – even if it’s just to yourself – a spark happens to set things in motion. It also gives you the motivation to make it happen even more.
So go on, ask for it, put it out there, let the Universe take it on and send it back to you!
I have been obsessed with Vanessa Hong’s style since I first saw her blog, The Haute Pursuit, about 3 or 4 years ago. Vanessa effortlessly mixes casual and sportswear pieces with high fashion, and has perfected this style to a fault.
