Rose Byrne (Bridesmaids) dazzled us with her effortlessly cool style as she attended the Max Mara AW14 show in Milan last week; wearing cream wide legged trousers with a gold camisole and a black blazer. Later this year the Emmy and Golden Globe nominated actress will pick up the 2014 Women In Film Max Mara Face of the Future Award® in recognition of her outstanding acting achievement and embodiment of style and grace.  She will be honoured at the 2014 Women In Film Crystal + Lucy Awards® on Wednesday, June 11th at Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, California.

Past recipients of the prestigious award have been Hailee Steinfeld, Chloë Grace Moretz, Katie Holmes, Zoë Saldana, Elizabeth Banks, Ginnifer Goodwin, Emily Blunt and Maria Bello.

Now you know we love us some eyewear over here on Freak Deluxe, haven’t posted any in a good while, we’ve just been quietly loving them. We can’t keep quiet about this though; Adrien Sauvage’s new eyewear collection for House A. Sauvage. All frames are hand-crafted in Italy using traditional methods, available as both sunglasses and glasses, for men and women.

The SS14 campaign features Fernando Cabral wearing six styles that take their inspiration from 1950′s designs and classic shapes, but these frames are subverted and redefined with unusual angles, exaggerated lines, keyhole bridges and chunky acetate frames. The collection offers exciting new ways to wear colour by injecting black and brown with highlights of Forest Green. As with Sauvage’s ‘This is not a suit’ collection, a new set of design archetypes are established with this eyewear range. The collection is designed and manufactured by hand, by our friends at Eye Respect Ltd.

SWEDISH HASBEENS HITS SHORDITCH

This Spring, Shoreditch will once again feel a little bit more Scandinavian. The Swedish clog and retro brand Swedish Hasbeens are taking over a bit of Box Park, making East London ooze of meatballs and ABBA’s Agneta Fältskog. Or clogs to be more specific but one Swedish classic doesn’t really go without the other.

In early March a very big wooden delivery will arrive at the Shoreditch streets, quite eager to put every Brit in sandal mode. The new optimistic collection – The Best Collection – in the best of all possible worlds – decided to take a roundtrip to the 18th century and came back with influences from Voltaire and Marie Antoinette, just to name a few. The new collection is determined to amuse and enlighten you. What else can you ask for then, than a bunch of sky scraping ice cream coloured wedges and golden heels.

For six months from 7th of March, the Swedish Box will be open carrying everything from the new Spring clogs to dark Fall favourites.

For her AW14 collection Charlie May took inspiration from textures within the landscape of Dartmoor in Devon; the rugged windswept environment (which ironically was happening to us outside as we waited to go into the show) is reflected in the use of pony hair and Mongolian furs. The colour palette was a strong mix of black, navy, winter white and soft cornflour blues.

This season Charlie focussed on creating a new silhouette taking the best bits of the oversized look; creating an elegant form with exaggerated cuffs, oversized roll necks and wide leg trousers, juxtaposed by androgynous trainers and school boy beaver felt hats in collaboration with New York milliner Gigi Burris.

Favourite looks included a knitted dress with exaggerated ribbed cuffs, a pony hair shift dress, and of course the finale piece – the  leather coat with Mongolian fur collar and cuffs.

Make up (Thom Walker) was kept very clean in keeping with Charlie May’s minimal look; while hair (Mari Ohashi) was swept in a low ponytail with a front side sweep and a messy loop behind the ear.

TREND: MINI CROSS BODY BAGS

Cross body bags have long been loved by that easy breezy, bohemian girl; but for the last couple of seasons the cross body bag has quickly become the go-to-bag for the fashionista. We’ve shifted from the ever faithful tote, to the hand-held clutch, to the ready for anything, sling across your body and go bag.

What is it that makes the cross body bag such a major player? First of all, it’s incredibly convenient; leaving you hands free to casually re-apply your red lip, enabling you to keep both hands warm in your oversized coat’s pockets, perfect for that quick fire instagram session, and doesn’t get in the way after that huge shopping binge.

This season we’re going even smaller with the mini cross body bag, so make sure you’ve got your essentials in check – phone, lippy, credit card, and compact mirror. Good to go from day to night! We’re loving these 3.1 Phillip Lim beauties.
