ADIDAS ORIGINALS BY RITA ORA FW14: PASTEL AND COLOURBLOCK

OriginalsbyRitaOra_AW1426_SEP

The debut FW14 adidas Originals by Rita Ora collaboration sees the brand with the three stripes hook up with an award-winning pioneer of stage and style.  Known as much for her fearless take on fashion, as for her head turning musical collaborations, Rita Ora has carved herself a pedestal for her energy and original spirit.

Now Ora collaborates with adidas Originals in a 3 season collaboration, a match brought about by a mutual admiration for breaking the rules and our shared rebellious natures.

The Pastel Pack takes to the skies: dreaming sunset shades of powder pinks, blues and yellows that are cloud soft across talon-sharp shapes.  A riot of feathers inspired by Rita’s own tattoo, rustle around cut out shoulders and hips, bringing flight to batwing sleeves, skin tight body suits and high waist skinny-fit shorts. Sheer detailing softens brave silhouettes that reveal hints of skin as they drift around the body.

While the Colourblock pack takes those sunset shades and pushes them to the extreme, ramping up the tone as hot pinks, blues and yellows colour block next to bold black.

NEW FRAGRANCE FROM NARCISO RODRIGUEZ LAUNCHES NEXT WEEK!

NARCISO EDP 2014_STILL_LIFE_CMYK_A4_300dpi

Narciso Rodriguez is launching a new fragrance next week, we have to say we’re super excited about it! Having been obsessed with his “Narciso Rodriguez for Her” since the launch of the EDP almost 10 years ago, we are waiting with baited breath to smell his new one “Narciso”.

Neither the bottle, nor the name stray too far from the original which makes us even more intrigued about the scent itself.

“NARCISO is a uniquely sexy fragrance.  The fragrance transforms notes of vetiver, the most elegant note from the classic woody family, with a daring olfactory composition that encapsulates intense femininity.  While musk remains the signature heart of the scent, it’s a voluptuous musk softened by amber, providing warmth and sensuality.

Assertive woody notes of vetiver and luminous white and dark cedars meet tender florals, lucid gardenia and soft radiant Bulgarian rose to create a sigularsynthesis both bold and subtle.”

The result: A seductive most feminine fragrance that lingers and endures.

Available exclusively from Selfridges from August 28th 2014; from £39 for 30ml

TOP 5 TIPS FOR SELLING YOURSELF THROUGH YOUR BUSINESS CARDS

tumblr_mjfp8vLLsT1rizen2o1_1280

Utilizing business cards is an old method but it is tried and true. Often times, they are an expected introduction and the only thing customers, or potential customers have to remember a company by in the future. Business cards are a routine, inexpensive and long established form of advertising. Tips on making them the perfect compliment are below. They represent your business. High quality plastic card printing found at onlineprinters.co.uk!

Tip 1
Be unique but keep it simple and professional. This is not the time to show off things like your extensive vocabulary, pride in all of your accomplishment or an unusually long, diverse or difficult names. The card should be consistent and thorough but not wordy. The shortest version will usually work best. This is a business card not a profile, biography or service list. Save extensive details and information for your website, pamphlets, brochures or meetings.

Tip 2
Be memorable and attractive. This is the main purpose of a business card. Relying solely on internet searches, phone directories or information centers to direct customers to a business is less than ideal. Business cards can easily distinguish an entity from competitors and include the information potential or current clients are seeking. Quick tips, logos, pictures, maps and/or long standing promotions are also helpful and should relate well to the product or service.

Tip 3
Strongly consider your market. Being relevant gives a business card purpose and is one of the first steps to making a business card something that would not and or could not be easily thrown away. In some cases it would be ideal to multi-task. For example, if your business strongly involves books consider it also serving as a bookmark. Service related business cards could double as a magnet and be easily placed in a highly visible area.

Tip 4
Waste not, want not. There is no need to pass business cards out in volume. This is a poor use of time and trees. Quality matters more here than quantity. For example, attend events, visit areas and talk to potential clientele. Community boards for a community based offering is an excellent use of energy. Leaving a large stack of business cards related to meat purchases at a vegetarian establishment would introduce a negative element rather than a new customer.

Tip 5
Branding and design are important. Save the colorful, small or distorted fonts for another information source. Being legible and traditional in size and format are a better fit and go a long way visually. Purchase the highest quality possible. They are often used as reminders, bookmarks and stored for future reference. Business cards are a great deal like book covers in this aspect in that they often provide a first and lasting impression.

Even in this digital age quality business cards offer a long term benefit, stand the test of time and serve a key purpose. Not only are they easy to transport and often expected, they are a highly affordable and creative reminder of what is a business is all about.

THE WAY WE WORE: THIS SEASON’S BEST RACE DAY LOOKS

As the summer looks as though it’s coming to an end, ladies up and down the country are still trying to make the most of the year’s final racing events. Autumn may be rearing its ugly head, but the St Leger festival still remains, and there’s still some inspiration out there to help us choose some gorgeous outfits.

This summer, while punters were looking to place their bets with Coral on what colour the Queen’s hat would be at Royal Ascot, the rest of us were fretting about what to wear to keep us looking great while keeping in mind the practicalities of battling the unpredictable British weather. If you’re up for one last hurrah in Doncaster, here are a few of this season’s favourites which will surely go down a storm.

Think pink

SPLURGE

Favourites amongst the Marie Claire headquarters this year were subtle pinks, from coral skater dresses to figure-hugging, glossy cocktail dresses. Without being too over the top with fuchsias, this season’s shades of pink managed to guarantee a classic feminine look, with celebrity followers such as Colleen Rooney setting the trend at Aintree.

In print

Another trend that has returned as a huge hit this summer is print, and it’s not eluded the classy dresses that became so popular on race days. Inspiration for this year’s dresses were flowers, birds and even insects, and while we were all rocking them in tie up tops, they looked great in fifties inspired dresses, with nipped in waists and flowing skirts.

Birds of a feather

Over in the headgear department, every year sees the opportunity for one lady to go all out and wear something outrageous for race day. The more subtle amongst us however chose to go with this year’s trend of feathered fascinators. Whether the inspiration was a peacock or something of the smaller aviary varieties, the feathered fascinator was an understated look which suited a variety of face shapes.

Mellow yellow

For the bolder race goers amongst us, this year ladies were embracing the summer theme, whether or not the climate was feeling the same way. Bright lemon yellows were another predominant colour amongst our race day wardrobes, and shift dresses were a particular favourite for letting this shade cling to our curves. Paired with heels in neutral shades to tone down the brightness, yellow was an instant summer hit.
